Jana Starling

Clarinetist Jana Starling is an active performer and teacher throughout Canada, the US and South America.  Currently she has joined the faculty at the University of Western Ontario after having taught at Arizona State University and Mount Allison University, NB. Her debut CD "Inflexion" earned a 2007 East Coast Music Award nomination for Classical Recording of the Year.  Jana has performed with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, the Paraguayan National Symphony, Timmins Symphony, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, Arizona Opera Company and at the International ClarinetFests and Belgian Clarinet Academy.  She actively commissions and records new music, and plays Eb clarinet in the newly-formed, Ironwood Trio.  Jana has released her second solo CD Mythos (PotenzaMusic) 2011 and a CD of newly commissioned clarinet duos is forth coming. Her teachers have been Ron Goddard, Connie Gitlin and Robert Spring.  The Clarinet (Mar 2008) hails Starling as “a wonderful player….musically sensitive…. , you will not be disappointed!”
