Molly Read was born in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia and studied cello in Halifax with Olive Shaw at The Maritime Conservatory of the Performing Arts. She holds her Bachelor of Music (Performance) from McGill University where she studied with Antonio Lysy, and her MFA (Music Performance) from Purchase College Conservatory at The State University of New York where she studied with Peter Wiley. Molly lived in Montreal for 15 years, where she played regularly with l'Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, McGill Chamber Orchestra, Montreal Chamber Orchestra, l'Orchestre Symphonique de Longueuil, and taught at FACE School of the Arts, as well as in her private teaching studio. During this time she worked as Artistic Coordinator at the Orford Arts Centre, and as Front of House Coordinator in the Concerts and Publicity Department at McGill University. She has taught at the University of New Brunswick Summer Music Camp, le Camp Musical des Laurentides and le Camp Musical Père Lindsay. Molly moved to Toronto with her family 8 years ago, and teaches private cello lessons both at home and at Havergal College.
