Scott Harrison has been on faculty at IMC since 2014. During the school year he teaches at Markham District High School where he oversees the grade nine music program. Usually consisting of over 150 students, grade 9 music at MDHS runs two concert bands and one (very large) jazz band. Scott also directs the grade ten jazz band, and coordinates the chamber music program.
Outside of the classroom, Scott is President of the Ontario Band Association, and the Director of the Ontario Provincial Honour Band. Scott also sits on the Executive of the Canadian Band Association and the conference committee for the Ontario Music Educator’s Association. A former clarinet player, he is the Pipe Major of the Toronto Police Pipe Band (Grade 3) with whom he has won several national and international championships, including a 6th place at the 2013 World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. He has performed with Natalie McMaster and The Barra McNeill’s and had the distinct pleasure to pipe for many dignitaries, including Queen Elizabeth II and other members of the Royal Family.
Scott holds degrees in Music Education from Wilfrid Laurier University, Nipissing University and York University.
